CityU, Deloitte and FORMS to develop blockchain-based credential ledger system

It can be used to verify the qualification of job candidates.

The City University of Hong Kong (CityU), Deloitte, and banking software developer FORMS tied up to develop a credential ledger system in Hong Kong using blockchain for verifying the qualifications of job candidates autonomously, according to a press release.

The system is permission-based and allows only registered educational bodies to submit certificates, and allowing only authorized employers to verify applicants’ academic certificates.

"Its ability to verify certifications not only reduces cost and fraud for employers, but in future will also open up many new job opportunities for graduates across the Greater Bay Area," Deloitte Asia Pacific Blockchain Lab partner Paul Sin said.

Christian Wagner, CityU CIO, said that they plan to release APIs for facilitating tighter integration with enterprise systems.
