Government to add more bottle collection points

Eastern Kowloon will be one of the first beneficiaries.

In a release, Secretary for the Environment KS Wong says the Government will expedite the expansion of collection points for glass bottles in the coming years.

By the time Hong Kong has a levy scheme on bottle recycling, it will have a very convenient system for people to separate bottles for collection.

Speaking to the media on the public consultation on a producer-responsibility scheme for glass beverage bottles today, Mr Wong said the Government is working with the Housing Authority so that each housing estate, particularly in eastern Kowloon, will have its own collection points.

Mr Wong said the Government is also liaising with the authority to extend the east Kowloon collection points to other housing estates.
