Bangkok travel alert raised

Due to protests scare.

The Security Bureau today raised the outbound travel alert for Bangkok to red, due to the latest situation in the city.

The alert remains amber for other parts of Thailand.

Hong Kong people planning to visit Bangkok should adjust their travel plans and avoid non-essential travel. Those already there should monitor the situation, attend to personal safety, and avoid protests and large gatherings of people.

Those needing assistance can call the Immigration Department on (852)1868 or the Chinese Embassy in Thailand on (66) 854833327.

The bureau will continue to monitor the situation there, and issue updates through the media and the outbound travel alert website.
