Suspected hacking reported at Kwai Tsing District Health Centre

Compromised data may include names and membership numbers.

The Primary Healthcare Commission (PHC Commission) under Hong Kong’s Health Bureau announced that it received notification of a suspected hacking incident affecting the Kwai Tsing District Health Centre.

According to the Kwai Tsing Safe Community and Healthy City Association (KTSCHCA), which operates the centre, the incident involved the outsourced service provider’s network system, used mainly for administrative tasks such as service bookings and member sign-ins.

Compromised data may include names, membership numbers, dates of birth, residential districts (but not full addresses), and the first four digits of some members’ Hong Kong Identity Cards, specifically those enrolled in a vaccination programme.

The PHC Commission has instructed KTSCHCA to submit a report within three working days and to follow up on the incident.

Meanwhile, KTSCHCA is currently assessing the number of individuals affected and the extent of data involved.
