HMG, HK Data seal AI deal for cross-border GBA healthcare
eTPA reduces overhead, protects data privacy in insurance processing.
HealthMutual Group (HMG) and Hong Kong Data Ltd (HK Data) signed an agreement to implement an electronic Third-Party Administrator (eTPA) system integrating artificial intelligence to manage cross-border healthcare administration between Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area.
The platform, built on HK Data’s Trusted Cross-border Data Space (TCDS) technology, transmits data for 700,000 members and digitises the medical concierge process, linking Grade 3A hospitals in the Greater Bay Area with Hong Kong insurers.
It manages underwriting, network administration, and mobile claims, reducing operational overhead whilst maintaining data integrity and patient privacy, according to a press release.
HMG and HK Data plan to deploy eTPA solutions for the Hong Kong employee benefits market, providing a cashless experience and eliminating upfront medical payments.
KC Chan, founder of HMG, said the system ensures sustainable funding for Hong Kong healthcare, with cross-border medical activity being essential.
Aldous Ng, HK Data founder and Chief Executive Officer, noted the platform connects hospitals and financial institutions, giving patients access to treatment in the Chinese Mainland.
