HA to launch digital maternity, sick leave certificates on 24 April

Such records will have the same legal status as paper versions.

The Hospital Authority (HA) will introduce electronic maternity/sick leave certificates and electronic maternity leave certificates from 24 April, replacing manually signed paper versions.

The certificates will be issued by doctors and midwives and will carry digital signatures with the same legal status as paper documents.

The records will include patient names, proof of pregnancy, expected date of confinement, and any recommended sick leave.

All electronic certificates, including attendance certificates, will be automatically stored in the “Records” function of the HA Go mobile application.

Meanwhile, printed copies of electronic certificates will remain available during an initial transition period.
