Advanced gynaecological cancer treatment centre opened in Gleneagles Hospital
The centre has surgical technologies and robotic systems.
With the aim of becoming an advanced robotic research centre, Gleneagles Hospital Hong Kong launched the Gynaecological Oncology Centre, which offers surgical technologies such as robotic and endoscopic systems.
These tools are sought to provide precise and advanced treatment for gynaecological cancer patients.
Amongst the tools cited is the robotic endoscopic system, which has 3D high-definition imaging system and articulated front camera that can enhance advanced laparoscopic surgery.
The surgery evolving from multiport to single incision and Vaginal Natural Orifice Transluminal Endoscopic Surgery can cut “blood loss and postoperative pain, shorten hospital stay, and speed up recovery.”
The centre has support from Gynaecological Oncology Tumour Board and is composed of doctors with different specialties such as clinical oncology, radiology, and anaesthesiology.
Despite these tech advancements, Gleneagles said each patient’s actual condition is different and they must first discuss it with their physician when choosing a suitable treatment.
