Sichuan earthquake victims to receive $2.5m from Hong Kong

Sichuan Government also received $100m fund injection.

According to a report, the Government has approved a $2.5 million grant for the Adventist Development & Relief Agency, China, to provide emergency relief to earthquake victims in Sichuan.

Last month's earthquake caused heavy casualties and extensive damage, and many victims are still in dire need of aid.

The Disaster Relief Fund Advisory Committee recommended the donation, saying it will help return the victims' lives to normal.

Also on the committee's advice, the $100 million fund injection approved by the Legislative Council was donated to the Sichuan Government.

The recipient government authority and the relief organisation will provide reports on the money's use after the projects are completed.
