Hong Kong safe from Japan's nuclear incident

Hong Kong Observatory has increased its frequency of taking air samples and its release of information on Hong Kong's radiation levels to once every hour.

According to Hong Kong Information Services Department, the Observatory said that Hong Kong is safe and has not been affected by the incidents in Japan in terms of radiation level.

Chief Executive Donald Tsang said: "The Government understands the public is anxious about the nuclear incidents in Japan, and has strengthened scrutiny on travellers, food and air, and has not detected any abnormality. Various government departments have taken contingency measures to ensure public safety. I believe the public will appreciate their hard work and professionalism."
