What Hong Kongers want in food delivery services

On-time delivery and having options are amongst the qualities consumers value.

Hong Kong consumers rely on food delivery services with over 23% willing to spend an average of $2,000 per month, Deliveroo reported. 

In its latest Consumer Survey, Deliveroo found that Hong Kongers value five key factors when choosing their food delivery service providers with on-time delivery as the top consideration.

This was cited by 47% of 1,000 consumers, followed by restaurant options (40%). Also amongst the considerations are the availability of discounts and promotions (39%), Good customer service and support (32%), and brand reputation (25%)

Deliveroo noted that 36% of Hong Kongers avail food delivery services because they do not want to cook, whilst 28% cited they rely on delivery to avail discounts and promotions. 

Consumers also noted the get food delivered due to a bad weather (26%), and insufficient time to prepare meals (25%). 

Others said they don’t want to get exposed to crowds to avoid contracting COVID-19 (25%).
