Restaurant receipts and purchases up 5.1% in Q3

Positive consumer sentiment buoyed sales.

Restaurant receipts and purchases increased by 5.1% YoY in Q3 with an estimated value of $28.3b, according to latest data from the government statistics agency.

The provisional value of total purchases by restaurants also increased 1.8% YoY to $9.2b.

The rising sales figures across all restaurant types indicate positive consumer sentiment on Hong Kong’s restaurant services.

Total receipts of Chinese restaurants increased 3.4% YoY in value whilst total receipts of non-Chinese restaurants went up to 6.6% YoY.

Total receipts of fast food shops increased 6.7% in value and total receipts of bars rose 3.3%.
