Proposal to provide extra allowances to Comprehensive Social Security Assistance, Old Age Allowance and Disability Allowance recipients will be implemented in August and September.
According to the Hong Kong Information Services Department, Financial Secretary John Tsang said the proposal is pending Legislative Council endorsement.
The Social Welfare Department will also arrange for payment of extra allowances in the second half of this year.
According to Mr Tsang, the Government is concerned about the impact of inflation to the citizens.
“The Government will continue to closely monitor inflation movement and introduce measures, where appropriate, in the light of prevailing circumstances to ease the impact of inflation on people's livelihood.”
