Foreign currency reserve assets reached US$423.4b in August

This is higher than the US$419.1b recorded in July.

Hong Kong’s official foreign currency reserve assets amounted to $3.30t (US$423.4b) as of the end of August, up from $3.26t (US$419.1b) at the end of July, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) reported.

Including unsettled foreign exchange contracts, the foreign currency reserve assets in August amounted to $3.29t (US$422.8b) from $3.26t (US$418.5b) in July.

The total foreign currency reserve assets of  $3.30t (US$423.4b) represent over five times the currency in circulation or about 39% of Hong Kong dollar M3.
