Exchange Fund assets slip $34.1b

HKD assets decreased by $22.6b.

According to a release, the Exchange Fund’s total assets amounted to $2.6123 trillion at the end of October, down $34.1 billion on September, the Monetary Authority announced.

Foreign currency assets decreased by $11.5 billion and Hong Kong dollar assets decreased by $22.6 billion.

The Monetary Base at the end of October was $1.113 trillion, an increase of $7.9 billion, or 0.7%, from the end of September.

Backing Assets increased by $6.7 billion, or 0.6%, to $1.2105 trillion. The backing ratio decreased from 108.94% at the end of September to 108.76% at the end of October.
