Warning out against bogus email

It was purportedly sent by China CITIC Bank International.

According to a release, the Monetary Authority today issued an alert on a fraudulent email purporting to be sent from China CITIC Bank International.

The email asks customers to use an embedded hyperlink to connect to a fraudulent website and verify their account information by entering their Internet banking account's user name and password.

The fraudulent website looks similar to the bank's Internet banking logon webpage.

The bank has clarified that it has not sent these emails to its customers and has no connection with the fraudulent website. It has reported the case to Police.

Anyone who has provided personal information to the website, or has conducted any financial transactions through it, should call the bank at 2287 6767, or Police at 2860 5012.
