Manulife to hire more agents in Hong Kong

The insurer wants to increase the number of its agents in Hong Kong to about 7,000 by 2015. Currently Manulife has about 4,600 independent agents exclusively selling insurance, pension and mutual-fund products in the city.

A Bloomberg report noted, “Hong Kong produced insurance sales of $50 million in the second quarter, a 10% increase, while wealth-management sales from the country were up 45% to $254 million, Manulife said in August.”

Manulife has operated in Hong Kong for more than a century with approximately 1.6 million clients, according to the report.
