HK, Mongolia customs ink co-operation deal

Both parties agreed to exchange information of customs laws.

According to a government release, Hong Kong and Mongolian customs agencies have signed a deal to boost co-operation in enforcement.

Commissioner of Customs & Excise Clement Cheung and Director General of the Customs General Administration of Mongolia Tseveenjav Derjee signed the agreement in Ulaanbaatar today.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr Cheung said the agreement signifies the mutual commitment and determination of the two administrations to enhance co-operation in combating transnational customs crime.

Both sides agreed to co-operate more closely through mutual administrative assistance in various areas, including the exchange of information and enforcement of customs laws.

Hong Kong has so far signed customs agreements with 18 other agencies.

Meanwhile, Mr Cheung will visit the Federal Customs Service of Russia tomorrow in Moscow before returning to Hong Kong.
