Doha Bank opens Hong Kong office
Will explore renminbi trade settlement with China banks.
Doha Bank’s new representative office in Hong Kong will also look at other opportunities in the region. Its primary role, however, is to build relationships with Chinese banks and companies to promote RMB trade settlement in the Gulf.
"We are looking for partners and we have been talking to ten Chinese banks including ICBC and CCB," said Doha Group CEO of Doha Bank R Seetharaman.
Seetharaman said there are also possibilities to set up commercial bank branches of the Doha Bank in Hong Kong in future "when the time is right.”
