The volume of Hong Kong’s total exported and imported goods rose to double digits in the first nine months of 2021 (9M2021), increasing by 22.3% and 21.5%, respectively.

Comparing it to the previous month, the number recorded in September 2021 was 9.3% higher for goods export, and 15% up for imports.

Exports, however, decreased in comparison with the preceding quarter on a seasonally adjusted basis by 0.7%. Imports, on the other hand, still recorded an increase of 6%.

The highest increase of export volume in 9M2021 was to Taiwan (38.6%), followed by India (23.1%), the USA (13.1%), and Japan (12%).

While export volume to the Mainland only increased by 1.3%, import volume from the area was the highest for 9M2021 at 20.2%. Increases in imports were also seen in Korea (19.7%), Singapore (11.7%), Japan (10.9%), and Taiwan (5.6%).
