Tsang pushes offshore renminbi in Thailand

Financial Secretary John Tsang was in Bangkok yesterday for the last leg of his Southeast Asian visit.

He updated the Thai business community on Hong Kong's rapidly growing offshore renminbi business, discussing the three pillars of renminbi banking, bonds and trade settlement. He also urged Thai executives to use Hong Kong as a platform to develop their renminbi portfolios.

Tsang then met with Bank of Thailand Governor Prasarn Trairatvorakul and later officiated at the gala premiere of the Hong Kong Film Festival 2011 in Bangkok.
