Total exports to Mainland China down 27% to $147.3b in Q3

Hong Kong’s total exports to Mainland China dipped to 27% YoY to $147.3b in Q3 compared to last quarter’s 27.5%, according to latest data from the Census and Statistics Department.

In a breakdown, 11.8% or $0.6b were for domestic exports and 27.2% or $146.7b were for re-exports.

Meanwhile, 39.2% of Hong Kong’s imports from the Mainland, which were related to outward Mainland processing, were valued at $197.9b whilst 72% of re-exports of Mainland origin to other places, which were produced through outward processing in the Mainland, was valued at $230.6b.

The C&SD defines imports from the Mainland related to outward processing as processed goods imported from the Mainland whilst re-exports of Mainland origin to other places involving outward processing in the Mainland are defined as processed goods re-exported through Hong Kong.
