Third quarter industrial production index up 0.2%

Producer price index also increased 9.6% in the third quarter.

The index of industrial production for manufacturing industries increased 0.2% in the third quarter of 2011 over a year earlier, following a 2% year-on-year increase in the second quarter of 2011, the Census & Statistics Department said Tuesday.

The corresponding producer price index increased 9.6% in the third quarter over a year earlier, following a 9% year-on-year increase in the second quarter.

The index of industrial production for sewerage, waste management and remediation activities rose 12.6% in the third quarter over a year earlier, following an 8.7% year-on-year increase in the second quarter.

Increases in output volume were recorded in the food, beverages and tobacco industry (+5.7%), and the paper products, printing and reproduction of recorded media industry (+1.4%).

Decreases in output volume were recorded in the metal, computer, electronic and optical products, machinery and equipment industry (-12.2%), the wearing-apparel industry (-11.8%), and the textiles industry (-11.2%).
