
October Exchange Fund foreign assets up $38.4bn
Foreign liabilities amounted to $400mn.
The Exchange Fund's foreign assets grew by $38.4 billion in October to $2.17 trillion, the Monetary Authority said Monday.
The Monetary Base, comprising Certificates of Indebtedness, government issued currency notes and coins in circulation, the Aggregate Balance and Exchange Fund Bills and Notes issued, amounted to $1.0587 trillion.
Claims on the private sector in Hong Kong amounted to $122.3 billion.
Foreign liabilities, representing fees payable to the Exchange Fund’s external managers, amounted to $400 million.
