More jobs available in Hong Kong

Economists say job prospects will be good this year.

They cite Hong Kong's low unemployment rate of 3.3% and rise in economic growth to 4.3% as cause for optimism. Over 700 private companies, government organisations and educational institutions sought new recruits at the recent 23rd Education & Careers Expo.

Many job seekers were intent on landing jobs in the government while others looked for jobs as real estate agents in the hot property market. Some real estate firms accepted on-the-spot applications during the expo.

A number of job seekers cited higher salaries in government and a more secure future as reasons for their wanting to join the civil service.
