Import and export value dips 0.3% in 2023

Total receipts amounted to $4.2t.

Hong Kong’s import and export industry value dipped year-on-year (YoY) by 0.3% to $467.1b in 2023, according to the Census and Statistics Department

Total receipts amounted to $4.2t whilst operating expenses, cost of goods sold and compensation of employees totalled $3.8t during the period. 

In the wholesale trade, total receipts amounted to $283b whilst value added declined YoY by 3.2% to $19.6b

As for the retail trade, the sector reported a $523b total receipts with an increased value of $74.7b.

Moreover, the accommodation services sector’s total receipts stood at $45.3b whilst growing its value by 63.4% to $20.4b.

Furthermore, the food services sector recorded a total receipt of $142.1b with an increase in its value by 29.6% to $45.7b.
