Hong Kong world’s 5th most trusting country

But Hong Kongers trust NGOs more than the government.

According to The Edelman Trust Barometer, Hong Kong ranked as the 5th most trusting country out of 26 economies surveyed. It moved three steps higher from last year.

China retained its top spot while Singapore inched a notch higher to the 2nd slot.

The survey also revealed that non-government organizations remain the most trusted institution. 4 out of 5 markets in APAC region gave NGOs the highest trust rating among other institutions. Hong Kong showed 76% trust in NGOs while giving the government only 63% trust rating.

The trust barometer survey showed the general and informed public’s trust in various institutions including the government, media, businesses, and non-government organizations (NGOs).
