Hong Kong strikes technology deal with Alberta
Five-year agreement will enable both governments to explore feasibility of scientific and technological co-operation.
Hong Kong and Alberta have signed a memorandum of understanding on science and technology co-operation.
Both sides agreed to explore co-operative activities such as exchanges of personnel, especially scientists and students; joint research and development projects; conferences and seminars to facilitate further exchanges; and exchange of science and technology information and documentation, according to a government report.
The document will be effective for five years. The two governments will explore the feasibility of establishing a joint working group to plan and co-ordinate activities on scientific and technological co-operation.
The Alberta Provincial Government has set up an office in the Hong Kong Science Park to encourage Albertan research and development companies to establish a presence there to take advantage of the Pearl River Delta as both a market and a manufacturing centre.
