
Hong Kong ranks 8th largest foreign currency holder
Hong Kong's official foreign currency reserve assets amounted to US$268.7 billion in December 2010.
The Monetary Authority said that the amount increased by US$2.6 billion on the end of November, according to the Hong Kong Information Services Department.
Hong Kong is the world's eighth largest holder of foreign currency reserves based on the latest published figures, after the Mainland, japan, Russia, Taiwan, India, South Korea and Brazil.
The figure represents about nine times the currency in circulation or 54% of Hong Kong dollar M3.
