Hong Kong ranks 27th globally amongst top startup ecosystems

The number of startups reached a record 4,694 in 2024.

Hong Kong landed 27th globally amongst the top startup ecosystems, jumping 20 positions in the 2025 Startup Genome ranking.

The city produced double the number of exits over $392m (US$50m) in 2025 compared to 024, entering the Top 40 ranking for the first time.

The number of startups reached a record 4,694 in 2024, marking a 10% year-on-year increase. Invest Hong Kong also supported 539 companies in 2024, a 41% YoY surge.

Meanwhile, the government introduced the I&T Accelerator Pilot Scheme with a funding allocation of $180m to attract international startup accelerators. A $10b fund was also established to invest in technology sectors.
