HKPC, Malaysian manufacturers group sign ASEAN industry pact
MoU targets AI, Industry 4.0, and supply chains.
The Hong Kong Productivity Council and the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturing have signed a memorandum of understanding to deepen industrial cooperation and support a new regional value chain across Hong Kong, Malaysia, and the wider ASEAN market.
The agreement was signed in Kuala Lumpur on 20 April and is aimed at helping companies in both markets strengthen technological capabilities, expand into new markets, and respond to shifting global supply chains.
The two organisations said the partnership will focus on areas including smart manufacturing, Industry 4.0, artificial intelligence, robotics, digital transformation, cybersecurity, cross-border business ecosystems, and talent development.
They added that the tie-up will combine the Malaysian federation’s network of more than 4,000 member companies with HKPC’s research and development and technology transfer capabilities. Planned activities include technical training, workshops, technology visits, pilot projects, business matching, and technical seminars.
The groups said the cooperation is intended to help manufacturers improve resilience against supply-chain risks whilst building a stronger position in regional and global industrial markets.
