HK unemployment rate steady at 3.1%

The underemployment rate also stayed at 1.1%.

Hong Kong’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate remained at 3.1% from November 2024 to January 2025, the Census & Statistics Department announced. The underemployment rate stayed at 1.1%.

Total employment dropped by 2,300 to 3,716,600, whilst the labour force declined by 5,700 to 3,826,700. 

Additionally, the number of unemployed fell from 113,600 to 110,100, and underemployed individuals decreased from 43,500 to 43,000.

Labour and Welfare Secretary Chris Sun said the job market should stay stable but warned that global economic uncertainties could pose challenges for some businesses.
