HK and China forge better financial ties

Both parties to further develop the renminbi bond market in Hong Kong and to help Chinese enterprises issue bonds in Hong Kong.

Chief Executive Donald Tsang met China Security Regulatory Commission Chairman Shang Fulin in Beijing on Wednesday, with both agreeing to strengthen co-operation between their respective stock exchanges, according to a government report.

They discussed technical collaboration of their computer systems and the early implementation of exchange-traded funds. They also agreed to further develop the renminbi bond market in Hong Kong and to help Mainland enterprises issue bonds in Hong Kong.

Mr Tsang thanked Mr Shang for accepting an invitation to attend the Asian Financial Forum to be held in Hong Kong next month.
