Goods export volume grows 31.6% in July as Taiwan shipments expand
Import volume rose 23.6% YoY over the same period.
The total volume of Hong Kong’s goods exports increased 31.6% year on year (YoY) in July, according to the Census and Statistics Department.
Goods import volume also rose 23.6% YoY over the same period.
For the first seven months (7M) of 2026, export and import volumes grew 29.1% and 29.3%, respectively.
On a seasonally adjusted basis, export volume increased 0.9% in the three months ending July, whilst import volume decreased 4.7% compared with the preceding three-month period.
Export and import prices rose 13.7% and 13.6% YoY, respectively, in July. During 7M, export prices increased 8.8%, whilst import prices rose 8.5%.
The terms of trade index edged up 0.1% YoY in July and 0.3% during 7M.
Amongst main export destinations, Taiwan recorded the largest increase in export volume at 70.3% YoY, followed by the US at 64.2%, Vietnam at 56.4%, and the Chinese Mainland at 34.7%. Export volume to India, however, decreased 7.6%.
Export prices increased across all five main destinations, led by the Chinese Mainland at 15.4% YoY, followed by the US at 14.3%, Vietnam at 11.7%, Taiwan at 11.5%, and India at 11.0%.
Amongst main suppliers, Korea recorded the largest increase in import volume at 89.1% YoY, followed by Singapore at 23.7%, the Chinese Mainland at 20.1%, and Taiwan at 7.3%. Import volume from Vietnam decreased 7.0%.
Import prices increased across all five main suppliers, led by Korea at 31.3% YoY, followed by Taiwan at 20.9%, the Chinese Mainland at 14.2%, Vietnam at 11.7%, and Singapore at 10.2%.
