Foreign currency reserve assets rocket to US$321b

It represents 55% of HK dollar M3.

According to the Monetary Authority, Hong Kong's official foreign currency reserve assets grew to US$321 billion in January, up US$3.7 billion on the previous month.

Including unsettled forward contracts, the foreign currency reserve assets at the end of January stood at US$321 billion, compared to US$317.3 billion at the end of December.

The figure represents about eight times the currency in circulation, or 55% of Hong Kong dollar M3.
