Table from ECA International

Hong Kong is Asia’s most expensive business travel destination

Globally, the market is 16th priciest for business concerns.

If you are planning to have a business trip in Hong Kong, saving up is a must as the market is now the most expensive location for business concerns, according to ECA International.

In a statement, ECA International revealed that Hong Kong bested Singapore as the priciest business travel destination. Its global ranking is 16th. Data showed that the average daily business trip costs in Hong Kong is at $4,099 (US$520), just $39.20 (US$5) above Singapore's average price. The cost is down by $31.36 (US$4) from the previous year's cost.

“Hong Kong has always been one of the most expensive Asian locations to visit on business, and remains so”, said Lee Quane, Regional Director – Asia at ECA International. “Business travel costs decreased in 2022, albeit slightly, due to low volumes of business travel demand caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and a poorly performing economy.”

Following Singapore, is Tokyo, Shanghai, and Seoul. Dhaka is sixth followed by Taipei and Beijing. Yokohama and Hsinchu are ninth and tenth, respectively.

Globally, New York stayed at the top for the most expensive location for business travel. Average price for business trips is now at $6,239 (US$796).
