AEC Group and CRREM partner to fast-track net-zero transition in Asia Pacific real estate

The two forged a partnership to champion the Net Zero Real Estate Pioneers initiative in Asia Pacific.

Allied Environmental Consultants Limited (AEC), a subsidiary of Allied Sustainability and Environmental Consultants Group Limited, has partnered with the Carbon Risk Real Estate Monitor Project (CRREM) to accelerate sustainable practices in the Asia Pacific real estate sector.

AEC, CRREM, and GBA Carbon Neutrality Association co-organized the 'Webinar Introducing Net Zero Real Estate Pioneers for Hong Kong and Mainland China CRREM Early Adopter Program' aimed at engaging real estate pioneers dedicated to implementing sustainable practices and reducing their carbon footprint. It drew nearly 150 participants, including real estate professionals, developers, investors, policymakers, and other stakeholders, attending online.

As the first training partner of CRREM in Hong Kong and Mainland China, AEC Group aims to guide companies in their decarbonisation journey using the updated CRREM-SBTi aligned pathway.

The eight-month Net Zero Real Estate Pioneers for Hong Kong and Mainland China CRREM Early Adopter Program underscores the group's dedication to fostering transparency and adopting science-based decarbonisation pathways, aligned with the Paris Climate Goals.

“This program offers a unique opportunity for real estate companies to align their strategies with the goals of the Paris Agreement and contribute to the transition to a low-carbon economy,” said Grace KWOK, chairman and executive director of AEC Group. “Looking ahead, we are excited to engage with industry pioneers and support their journey towards net-zero carbon emissions with practicable decarbonisation strategies through this meaningful initiative.”

The webinar featured industry experts discussing topics such as net-zero target setting, transition risk, and the benefits of the Early Adopter Program.

“As we face the urgent challenges of climate change, it is crucial for the real estate industry to embrace sustainable practices and take the lead in combatting climate change,” added Dennis WU, chief executive officer and executive director of AEC Group.

“By joining forces with CRREM, SBTi, and other industry pioneers, we believe this Webinar will serve as a catalyst for change to inspire other sustainability practitioners in the real estate sector to embrace the transition, prioritizing sustainability in the long run,” he added.
