Prudential takes pride in its transformative approach on cultivating a data, AI-driven culture

With data and AI-focussed initiatives, the company has unlocked new sources of value and enhanced decision making.

Prudential Hong Kong is committed to cultivating a culture that embraces the strategic value of data and artificial intelligence (AI)-driven insights. The company has rolled out transformative initiatives to integrate cutting-edge technologies into everyday workflows.

To drive broader knowledge and empower all employees to use AI to better serve customers, Prudential has partnered with Google Cloud and launched the new AI Lab. The AI Lab is designed to accelerate Prudential’s adoption of machine learning, AI, and Gen AI, providing a new sandbox environment and a step-by-step process for turning ideas into scalable AI solutions.

Regular data and AI-focussed town halls, hackathons, lunch-and-learn events, and collaborative working sessions enhance ongoing learning across various divisions. By collaborating with tech giant Accenture, FinTech Innovation Lab Asia Pacific, Prudential remains at the forefront of emerging technologies whilst supporting local data and AI-focussed startups.

Employees can leverage tools such as Microsoft Office 365 Copilot and other AI image generation and content generation tools. Additionally, Prudential is rolling out script-to-video and video translation tools to enhance productivity and creativity. In predictive modelling, AI-driven customer propensity models facilitate informed decision-making.

To improve knowledge retrieval, Prudential utilises conversational AI, enabling financial consultants to quickly access relevant information from the company’s extensive knowledge library. This technology employs retrieval-augmented generation techniques to enhance the accuracy and reliability of generative AI models.

“With the flexibility to adapt to change and new opportunities, we are reimagining how we work, develop products, and create value for our customers and partners,” said Sam Lim, Chief Information Technology Officer, Prudential Hong Kong. This shift has strengthened Prudential’s competitive edge and propelled the business forward.

By successfully fostering a data- and AI-driven culture, Prudential actively engages employees in adopting innovative tools that are integral to daily workflows. With its commitment to responsible and ethical technology deployment, the company is enhancing its data and AI governance practices.

These initiatives have garnered Prudential distinction in the AI - Insurance category at the prestigious HKB Technology Excellence Awards 2024, which celebrates innovation and excellence in Hong Kong's dynamic tech landscape. This recognition underscores the company's leadership in technological disruption within the insurance industry.
