Jebsen Group Clinches Major Wins at the Hong Kong Business Technology Excellence Awards 2022

Enhancing processes and services with revolutionary API and RPA technologies.

Jebsen Group, a leading brand builder and a focused marketing, investment and distribution organisation, was honoured at 2022’s Hong Kong Business (HKB) Technology Excellence Awards for both its new LEGO-like application programming interface (API) and its utilisation of robotic process automation (RPA).

By replacing enterprise resource planning (ERP) with this new API technology, the interconnectivity of internal applications and external software-as-a-service (SaaS) has been significantly improved.

The LEGO-like application is divided into front- and back-of-house components. Front-of-house elements are used to connect with customer-facing applications such as online stores, POS, third-party trading platforms and third-party logistics.

Meanwhile, back-of-house components are used to connect management applications, such as order, product and inventory management systems, and general ledgers. This delivers a reusability level of more than 80%, as each management application receives and processes almost the same sets of data as the front-of-house elements.

Reusable modules such as this not only reduce development time but crucially, reduce system testing efforts and the possibility of programme bugs too.

With data transferred simply from one application to another, data integrity is guaranteed by an auto-reconciliation feature built into the API’s functionality. Data is synchronised in real-time across systems, with three distinct control levels deployed to ensure zero data loss.

This technology saw Jebsen win an award in the “API - Diversified Services” category, with HKB recognising the application’s high availability design and reduced integration errors. 

Meanwhile, with the expansion of process automation, the Group has also designed an end-to-end RPA solution that improves internal workforce productivity and enhances the customer journey. By employing optimised IT strategies and systems, Jebsen ensures that clients can enjoy the best possible experience.

Utilising RPA in the Group’s IT processes is a strategic direction with a quick-win process automation approach. With only limited system intervention, every RPA project can be completed quickly. This agile approach helps Jebsen’s IT department achieve greater user buy-in and confidence in technology, whilst also developing an innovative culture of sharing ideas across teams.

Whilst RPA solutions ease the repetitive, non-office hours of work of business users, they also speed up system integration development. This solution helps employees handle huge increases in order intakes and enquiries, alongside allowing for real-time tracking and performance measurement.

The process-streamlining support provided by this RPA system was recognised by HKB with a win in the “Automation - Consumer Products - Non-Durables” category.
