Fidelity International garners two wins at HKB Technology Excellence Awards 2024

It has exemplified its commitment to client centricity through innovative mobile app capabilities to delight its users.

Leading global asset manager Fidelity International has secured two latest wins at the HKB Technology Excellence Awards 2024 in its Mobile - Financial Services and Digital - Financial Services categories. It was recognised for its achievements in elevating client experience, fostering lifelong engagement, and enhancing operational efficiency through the SmartRetire mobile app.

The app aids clients in building better financial futures by maximising the use of digital tools. In the past few years, SmartRetire’s coverage has expanded to serve not only Fidelity’s pension and personal investing clients but also the broader public. This vision was also reflected in the app’s upgrade, which introduced a new “Rewards” system and gamification elements aimed at fostering client loyalty and financial wellness.

The features offer clients seamless integration into their lifelong investment journey. They are designed to incentivise them to go digital, from managing accounts to staying connected with the latest investment insights to accessing Fidelity’s extensive financial planning tools easily.

The app’s ‘’Rewards’’ function was designed with its members’ experience in mind, focussing on easily accessible reward redemption and tracking. On the other hand, the prompt reward distribution cycle is reduced by months, which has significantly improved operational efficiency and lowered the acquisition costs for digital campaigns.

Following the successful rollout of this feature, the company also introduced a 10-week gamification campaign for Tax Deductible Voluntary Contributions (TVC) in the first quarter of 2024. By engaging existing and prospective clients with weekly financial wellness and personal finance tips, those who completed the tasks via the app earned chances to enter a lucky draw.

Through active online promotion across email marketing, social media, and paid advertising, the campaign saw a very encouraging response. It successfully drove substantial traffic, which led to the majority of the new account openings. The introduction of the rewards and gamification features in the app also led to a surge in mobile app interactions in the first quarter of 2024, compared to the same period last year.

Fidelity strives to provide innovative solutions that empower clients to make informed investment decisions to respond to ever-evolving personal wealth management and retirement planning needs.

“Our dedication to fostering lifelong client engagement and enhancing client satisfaction is evident through the ongoing development of our digital services, notably through our award-winning mobile app innovations,” the company said.
