Airport Authority Hong Kong wins at Hong Kong Business Technology Excellence Awards 2026

Park & Fly and Park & Visit services enable seamless cross-boundary travel and direct airport access for drivers.

Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) won Smart Technology - Aviation in the Hong Kong Business Technology Excellence Awards 2026 for its automated car parks, Park & Fly and Park & Visit, located at the Hong Kong Port of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge.

Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) serves the Greater Bay Area, a region of over 86 million people with growing international travel demand. To facilitate cross-boundary intermodal travel and provide airport access for regional car owners without dual-plate registration, AAHK developed Park & Fly under the Government's Southbound Travel for Guangdong Vehicles policy, enabling drivers to park their vehicles and connect to flights without clearing Hong Kong immigration or holding a local driving licence.

The facility represents one of the most ambitious automated parking deployments in the Asia-Pacific region. It features a fully unmanned high-density double-deck racking system operated by automated guided vehicles, which autonomously transport and stack vehicles within the structure using sensor-guided navigation, eliminating the need for drivers to manoeuvre or walk through the car park. End-to-end digital integration spans online booking, contactless licence plate recognition, automated storage and retrieval, and a fully self-service experience, allowing travellers to complete drop-off, payment, and collection independently via self-service kiosks and digital payment, without staff assistance. Crucially, AAHK secured policy agreements across Guangdong, Macao, and Hong Kong to enable 24-hour car park and SkyPier Terminal operations. The facility also incorporates electric vehicle chargers and possesses future-readiness for autonomous vehicle integration.

Operational results demonstrate strong efficiency and resilience. The automated system recorded thousands of cross-border vehicle movements and served passengers during its initial operational period, operating continuously without service interruption through peak travel times.

These services extend the effective catchment area of HKIA, strengthen its competitiveness, and reinforce its position as an international aviation hub. The 24-hour operation ensures regional travellers access the airport at any time for early morning or late-night flights.
