Contractors fined for violation of safety rules

Chevalier Limited and Glorious International Limited were fined $25,000 and $42,000 respectively for violating the Construction Sites Regulations and the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance.

The prosecutions were launched by the Labour Department.

The case involved a fatal accident that occurred in Kwun Tong on December 23 last year, in which a worker was suspected to have fallen from an unprotected lift door opening on the 14th floor to the bottom of the lift shaft while erecting formwork for the lift door sill, and met his death.
