Thales to overhaul cockpits in 48 Cathay and HK Express jets
A330neo and A321neo fleets get advanced cockpit tech, from HUDs to satellite links.
Cathay Pacific Airways and HK Express will equip their new Airbus aircraft with Thales avionics systems, according to a press statement from Thales.
The plan covers 30 A330neo aircraft for Cathay Pacific and 18 A321neo/A320neo aircraft for HK Express.
According to Thales, the aircraft will feature the PureFlyt Flight Management System (FMS), the T3CAS traffic collision alerting system, Low-Range Radio Altimeters (LRRA) resistant to 5G interference, and Head-Up Displays (HUD).
Cathay Pacific will also install AVIATOR S satellite communications for cockpit connectivity.
Thales said the PureFlyt FMS automates flight control and navigation, whilst T3CAS provides collision alerts.
LRRA measures altitude, and HUDs display flight data in the pilot’s line of sight. AVIATOR S enables communication between the cockpit and ground operations.
Thales stated these systems will be used to support navigation, altitude monitoring, safety alerts, and communications on the new aircraft.
