Japan, Korea lifts HK flight restrictions

The lifting of restrictions could bring more convenience to travelers, the city government said.

Japan and Korea lifted their travel restrictions on passenger flights from Hong Kong.

Since December 2022, the Japanese Government began to mandate limits on the maximum number of flights each airline carrier can operate while departing from Hong Kong.

Last 13 February, Cathay Pacific, the city’s flagship airline, announced that they decreased their number of flights per week into Japan to 72, which is 13-15 flights per week less than what they originally planned for February to March 2023.

Meanwhile, the Korean Government imposed travel restrictions on passenger flights from Hong Kong on 10 January.

The Hong Kong Government welcomed the decision of both countries to lift their travel restrictions and believed that it could bring more convenience to travelers and help speed up the recovery of the city’s aviation industry.
