Cathay Pacific passenger traffic rises 19.7% YoY in June

Cathay Pacific carried a total of 1,837,706 passengers in June.

Cathay Pacific and its budget airline HK Express collectively carried about 13.5 million passengers for H1 2024.

The two airlines also flew 92,000 passengers on 30 June, the highest daily count since the pandemic.

In June 2024, Cathay Pacific carried a total of 1,837,706 passengers, up 19.7% year-on-year (YoY).

In the same period, revenue passenger kilometers (RPKs) increased 23.7% YoY, whilst passenger load factor decreased by 4.2 percentage points (pp) to 83.5%. Available seat kilometers (ASKs) rose by 30% YoY.

In H1 2024, the number of passengers carried increased by 36.4% to 10,659,601, compared to a 42.7% increase in ASKs and a 34.9% increase in RPKs from the previous year.

In addition, the airline carried 124,568 tonnes of cargo in June, increasing 12% YoY whilst cargo revenue tonne kilometres (RFTKs) increased 5.6% YoY.

The cargo load factor decreased by 2.1 pp to 59.6%, while available cargo tonne kilometres (AFTKs) increased by 9.4% YoY. 

In H1 2024, tonnage increased by 10.5% to 719,464 tonnes, compared to an 11.4% rise in AFTKs and a 4.6% increase in RFTKs from a year ago.
