Indonesia AirAsia, Tigerair Mandala boosting flights to HK

AirAsia looking to dominate in Indonesia.

Both budget carriers are targeting the Indonesia-Hong Kong market. Tigerair Mandala announced the launch of services to Hong Kong from Bali and Surabaya starting December, supplementing its new Jakarta ro Hong Kong route.

Indonesia AirAsia is preparing to launch a Surabaya to Hong Kong service in 2014 and plans to serve Hong Kong from Medan.

Analysts said Indonesia AirAsia wants to improve its presence in Indonesia’s international market. The airline currently accounts for a more than 17% of seat capacity in Indonesia’s international market while AirAsia Group overall accounts for a 26% share.
