The Environment & Ecology Bureau of Hong Kong and the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) have signed an MOU and cooperation agreement to strengthen collaboration in the equine industry and the export of Hong Kong's aquatic products to the Mainland.
The MOU, aimed at supporting the development of the equine industry in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, will improve quarantine and customs procedures for horses, forage feed, and biological products. It also supports the Hong Kong Jockey Club Conghua Racecourse and promotes laboratory technology cooperation.
The cooperation agreement focuses on expanding the export of Hong Kong’s cultured aquatic products to the Mainland. It outlines clear inspection, quarantine, and hygiene standards and establishes a cooperation framework.
Environment & Ecology Secretary Tse Chin-wan said that the MOU would enhance cooperation between Hong Kong and Guangdong’s equine industries, contributing to the sector’s modernization.
He added that the agreement would help Hong Kong's aquaculture industry access the Mainland market, supporting sustainable growth in line with the Government’s agricultural and fisheries development plans.
