Agricultural, marine scholarships launched

Applications are until 30 August.

According to a report, scholarships and grants under the Agricultural Products Scholarship Fund and the Marine Fish Scholarship Fund are now open for applications until August 30, the Agriculture, Fisheries & Conservation Department said today.

The funds, set up in 1978, help employees and their families as well as those wishing to pursue a career in local agricultural and fisheries industries, including wholesale marketing.

The award for tertiary education is given for a full-time degree or sub-degree at local institutions recognised under the Tertiary Student Finance Scheme - Publicly-funded Programmes, the Student Financial Assistance Agency's Financial Assistance Scheme for Post-secondary Students, and at recognised overseas institutions.

Workers in these industries, and those studying agriculture, veterinary science, horticulture, agronomy, integrated agribusiness management, fisheries science, marine biology, fisheries technology or other directly related applied science subjects may apply.

Applications from students pursuing or intending to pursue a second bachelor's degree, research or post-graduate programme will not be considered.

Local full-time secondary students in forms four to six whose families are involved in these industries may apply for senior secondary education scholarships.
