Hong Kong sets 2028 start, 2033 opening for Pak Shek Kok Station
Detailed planning and design for the station will proceed.
The Hong Kong Government has announced the latest timeline for the proposed Pak Shek Kok (PSK) Station, with construction targeted to begin in the second half of 2028 and commissioning set for 2033.
The station will sit roughly midway between Hong Kong Science Park and the Education University of Hong Kong's (EdUHK) existing Sports Centre site.
Because the project requires building on active running tracks, the existing sports centre will be reprovisioned to a site at Tung Tsz on Ting Kok Road, adjacent to EdUHK's main campus.
Following land resumption and clearance, construction of the new sports centre will also begin in the second half of 2028, with completion targeted for 2031.
To finance the station, sports centre relocation, and related infrastructure, the government will grant the MTR Corporation property development rights over two sites at Pak Shek Kok and Ma On Shan.
Residential development on those sites is expected to begin progressively from 2031 at the earliest.
The Chief Executive in Council has approved inviting MTR Corporation to proceed with detailed planning and design for the station, alongside an agreement in principle on the property development rights financing arrangement.
