Hong Kong MTR names new chairman
Dr. Jacob Kam Chak-pui’s will assume the post, starting 1 Jan. 2026
Dr. Jacob Kam Chak-pui has been appointed chairman of the board at Hong Kong MTR Corporation Limited (MTRCL), effective 1 January 2026.
Dr. Kam will lead the operations of Hong Kong’s railways and is expected to boost the development for cross-boundary integration with the mainland, as he draws on his extensive years of experience in railway, said Mable Chan, secretary for transport and logistics.
The MTRCL carries over 5 million passengers daily, Chan said.
Dr. Kam will serve as chair for two years until 31 December 2028. He was also appointed as MTRCL non-executive director.
Under the leadership of Dr. Auyeung, meanwhile, the MTRCL completed the full Tuen Ma Line and the East Rail Line cross-harbour extension projects, Chan said
