Hong Kong-Macao private-car quota rises by 400 to 1,400
The three-year permit will take effect from 30 September.
The quota for Hong Kong private cars travelling to Macao via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge has increased by 400 to 1,400, the Transport Department announced.
The latest batch comprises the new slots agreed upon by both the Hong Kong and Macao governments, alongside 1,000 quotas reallocated following their expiry.
Applications will open on 7 August for non-commercial private cars, whilst individuals and companies engaged in specified employment or business activities in Macao may apply for quotas subject to eligibility criteria.
Hong Kong permanent residents and locally registered companies may also apply for open quotas, which have no specific eligibility requirements.
Online registration will run until 20 August. The quotas will be allocated by ballot after applications close.
The three-year quotas will take effect from 30 September at the earliest and expire on 29 September 2029.
